My "Moon Animate" project stills.

I had to contribute to this wonderful project called "Moon Animate". A group animation project where animators around the globe re-animate an entire episode of Sailor Moon in their own style. Here is the link for more details!
http://moonanimate.tumblr.com/

I was conflicted on what style to do. Thank goodness I had a super short shot to work on.

So basically, I stippled my color, chose to do cut out style and used After Effects. Here are some stills. It's a 2 second shot.

A shot from "Moves 2 Make" Dosage Project

Currently Animating. Here's a shot of the first scene in Flash. It's still being animated and I have a fellow Animator digitally coloring the background. DJ Inferno is in the back, Dosage in the front, and an audience member hands. There will be more hands added later.

"Stimpy's Fanclub" Ren's Facial Expressions

One of my favorite episodes from"Ren and Stimpy" series is called "Stimpy's fanclub". It tells the story about how Stimpy gets more fan mail and is more popular than Ren. To make Ren feel better about himself, Stimpy offers him the job of being the president of his fanclub. Of course that becomes a huge mistake. Ren becomes full of himself and then insanely jealous of Stimpy even more. This causes thoughts of murder.

Yea...I know, it's a kid show right?(One of the things I loved about this show was that it was for everyone to enjoy)
Anyway, I loved it! Such a great script and in this particular episode, John Kricfalusi really showcased these characters personality traits. Also adding a dark comedy element which was rarely seen in early 90's children's tv.

So getting to the point, there's a scene where Ren is already disturbed and does this whole monologue while Stimpy is sound asleep. Creepy, dark,  and insanely good. I loved how John purposely changed Ren's facial structure, expressions, and body type. Everything is over-exaggerated, twisted, and weird. It matches whats going on in Ren's head at that moment. This scene to me is still BRILLIANT. Makes an animator swoon.

Backgrounds from my ORIGINAL Senoir Thesis

I really like these backrounds and even though I scrapped the idea of my original thesis, I plan to go back to these BG's and work on them. What do ya think? ^_^ But yep I really want to get better, since my goal is to become a storyboard artist.

Golden Boy, one of my favorite Anime's and all it's pervy glory

Golden Boy is one of my favorite Animation's from Japan. Why? Well that's easy. They writing for the show is amazingly perverted but well done. I'm not the kind of girl to go for perverted comedy's but Golden Boy was well done that I can't pen point the appeal out exactly. You would think only men would watch this show, but a lot of females including myself get a kick out of it.

Manga Created by Tatsuya Egawa
Animated by Production I.G

Plot:
Kintaro Oe is a 25 year-old guy who dropped out of college. His specialties are daydreaming, part-time jobs and - naturally - pretty girls. He roams the land on his trusted pink bike, happily living his life.

Each episode follows the same plan. Kintaro finds a job somewhere. Usually, his boss is a beautiful woman who doesn't care what he does, especially when he starts to act silly.

Basically...he ends up in perverted situations, lusting over pretty women he meets, but he always saves the day in bad situations and learning life's lessons. Sounds ridiculous huh? Watch it. It's really good. Only 6 episodes. The last episode is my favorite. He works for an Animation studio and its soooo cool.

Also the facial expressions in this Anime gets me everytime. They're strange, hilarious, random, exaggerated, dumb, and down right genius. You can get a since of hilarity and crudness in the main character Kintaro. His facial expressions are different each time and even gets more exaggerated as an episode goes on.

This art technique reminds of John K. The creator of the "Ren and Stimpy" series. He had a thing where each scene, shot or whatever had to be a different look, a different drawing for the characters face. Especially for Ren. You know what, I like that moto. I mean it keeps you as a viewer interested and laughing for more. The animation will never get boring. I just love all teh expressions. I would like to share them with you, hehe.

The Animation quality is Good! I love it. Usually people sneer Anime for limited frames, BUT Golden Boy is not limited. It is well Animated and I think it's because they were doing only 6 episodes, and not 100 + like a typical Bleach Anime.  They really took their time with it and crafted a really good Sex comedy. Here's a preview of an episode below. If you can, please watch the whole series. There's a boxset and all the episodes are on youtube. Enjoy! It's hilarious! Man, those facial expressions, lol.

"A Teddy Bear Story"

That is the new confirmed title for my Senior thesis.

The story is about a little girl who really wants to have this giant stuffed bear from the toy store. Everyone in towns has their own teddy's but our main girl dose not have enough money. After her day dream about dancing with the bear, she sulks off until a twist of fate happens! A ten dollar bill flies in her face from a woman's purse. She attempts to get the woman's attention, but goes ahead and keeps the money. She purchases the teddy that she always wanted and skips off until...she passes a homeless girl. After alot of contemplating reluctantly she hands the bear over to someone she thinks needs it the most. The poor child in return, gives our main girl a broken toy.

There, that is the story. It's suppose to be cute. ^^

Here is a FINISHED still of a scene. That is the homeless child.

My piece is going to be just black and white. Simple line work, nothing fancy. The dancing with the bear scene is going to be done in traditional hand drawn, while the rest of the piece is in FLASH(tradigital)

Here are some sketches and rough storyboards.

This is the main little girl

That's all I'm going to share. Still working on my Animation though.
Does anyone else have ideas for story titles?? Much appreciated.

In my next entry I wanted to talk about my "trashed" original Senoir thesis idea that I had and show my Animatic. It was a really cool epic storyline, but during the summer, my heart completely was not into it. Reason? I tell you later. Till next time...byes!
